PAPEMP

Product Groups

Papemp, also known as poly(aminoethyl ethylene phosphonic acid), is an organic compound with the formula C2H8NO7P. It is a polymer used as a water treatment agent. It has high chelating and dispersing effects, high calcium tolerance value and good scale inhibitor effect. It is used as an antiscalant and corrosion inhibitor in cooling water systems and refineries in high hardness, alkali and pH conditions. It prevents scale formation such as calcium carbonate, calcium sulfate and calcium phosphate.

The chemical and physical properties of Papemp are as follows:

  • Its molecular weight is 206.05 g/mol.
  • It has no melting point.
  • It has no boiling point.
  • Its density is 1.25 g/mL.
  • Its solubility is high in water.
  • pKa value is 9.5.

Papemp's production method is as follows:

  • Polymerization method: This is the most common production method of Papemp. Aminoethyl ethylene phosphonic acid monomer is converted into Papemp polymer by a polymerization reaction initiated by heat or light. Some inhibitors are also used in this method.

Papemp's areas of use include:

  • As antifreeze: Papemp is a component of antifreeze formulations. It is used as a heat transfer medium in automobile, computer and cooling systems. Mixed with water, it lowers the freezing point and raises the boiling point. It also helps prevent corrosion.
  • For polyester fiber production: Papemp is an important raw material for polyester fiber production. It is esterified with terephthalic acid or dimethyl terephthalate to produce polyethylene terephthalate (PET). PET is then melted or crystallized into polyester fibers.
  • For the plastics industry: Papemp is also used in the plastics industry. It is used to make polyethylene terephthalate (PET) plastic bottles. Papemp is also used to make polyurethane foams.
  • For natural gas plants: Papemp is also used in natural gas plants. Papemp is used for drying and cleaning natural gas. Papemp is also used to prevent icing in natural gas pipelines.
  • For the tanning and pharmaceutical industries: Papemp is also used in the tanning and pharmaceutical industries. In leather tanning, Papemp is used to soften and protect leather. In the pharmaceutical industry, Papemp is used to coat tablets and improve their solubility.
